Richfield Cub Scout Pack 157 Newsletter – JUNE 2024

What to Buy in June.... - Mojosavings.com | June activities, 10 interesting facts, Months in a year

Hello Scout Families! Summer is here!!!

With the school year coming to an end in just a few short days, so too does our main scouting year.

Hopefully, that means that you have a time to enjoy the weather and family for the next few months until the start of a new school year and scouting year.

In this newsletter we will cover: VOLUNTEERING, River Rats, Pack Picnic, Pack Bonfire and Richfield Days Parade

GET INVOLVED! Cub Scout Pack 157 needs you, our Scout parents, to help run the Pack! Find out how you can become more involved by attending one of our Parent Committee Meetings. We meet once a month at either the Richfield Village Hall, or before/after a Pack Event. Everyone’s time is valuable and we try to make the meetings accessible to everyone. Coming to a PC meeting does not mean that you are volunteering for a spot or an event, it means that you are there to help make suggestions for upcoming overnights, fundraising, or just ways that we can improve our overall pack to make it the best opportunity for our boys that we can.

It was a GREAT weekend for River Rats 2024!! We had a few slight hiccups, but it was nothing that our pack as a whole could not overcome. Fri night unfortunately ended early with a storm that rolled through causing no fire to be had and everyone turning in relatively early (minus the few scouts that were chatting in their tent). Sat was a beautiful day with some cloud cover that made it cooler, but it was nice and warm when the sun was out. The weather made for all of the activities to be enjoyed by all with the night ending with a whole camp fire with flag retirement, skits, and a presentation of the River Rat award for great attitudes and a helping nature. Congratulations to Forest Blanchard, Bryce Groves-Falligan, and Kaydence Paff. The night ended back at our camp where a group of adult leaders in training had built us a few fires for our scouts to retire four more flags, roast marshmallows for smores and even shared their Dutch oven desserts with us. The Webelos cooked us some campfire cones for their Cast Iron Chef requirement and all attending went to bed well sugared up.

Here’s to looking forward to River Rats 2025!
